Greetings from SRM Institute of Science & Technology and NCBS
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that we extend a cordial invitation to you for the
International
Conference on the emerging topic of "Cellular Symphony: Decoding Protein Homeostasis in Human
Health"
(ProUPS-25).This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from 03-05 February 2025 at the
SRMIST
Kattankulathur campus, in collaboration with the National Centre for Biological Sciences,
Bangalore,
India.
ProUPS-25 will be a remarkable gathering of distinguished international and national scientists
who
are
pioneers in the fields of Ubiquitin Signaling, Proteases and their functions, Drug Discovery,
Autophagy/Mitophagy, UPS, stress responses, and ERAD pathways. The conference aims to provide a
platform
for eminent scientists from around the world to present, discuss, and share their cutting-edge
research
on Ubiquitin Signaling, Protein Homeostasis, Autophagy, PROTACs, and Drug Discovery.
We are delighted to announce that the keynote speaker for ProUPS-25 will be Professor Aaron
Ciechanover
from the Technion – IIT, Haifa, Israel. Professor Ciechanover is a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry
(2004)
for his groundbreaking discovery of the Ubiquitin Proteasome System and protein degradation.
Conference Highlights:
Keynote Speaker
Prof. Aaron Ciechanover
Nobel Laureate in Chemistry-2004.
For the discovery of Ubiquitin Proteasome System & protein degradation.
The Rappaport Faculty of Medicine and Research Institute
Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel
Prof. Aaron Ciechanover is one of Israel's first Nobel Laureates in science. For the phenomenal discovery of Ubiquitin Proteasome system (UPS) Prof. Ciechanover along with Dr. Avram Hershko and Dr. Irwin A. Rose were awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004. He is honoured for playing a central role in the history of Israel and in the history of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Prof. Aaron Ciechanover obtained his MSc (1971) and M.D. (1973) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He then continued his studies to obtain a doctorate in biological sciences under Dr. Avram Hershko in the Faculty of Medicine in the Technion (D.Sc.; 1982). There, as a graduate student in Dr. Hershko’s Lab he discovered that covalent attachment of ubiquitin to a target protein signals it for degradation. They deciphered the mechanism of conjugation, described the general proteolytic functions of the system, and proposed a model according to which this modification serves as a recognition signal for a specific downstream protease know more
